When a problem or issue is negatively affecting you – whether it’s at home, your relationships with coworkers, job performance or satisfaction, or your general well being – help is available from the Optima EAP.  This program deals with a broad range of life issues including, but not limited to:
  • Stress
  • Depression
  • Balancing work and family
  • Relationship or family difficulties
  • Grief and Loss
  • Substance Abuse
  • Dealing with aging parent(s)
  • Anger Management
  • Legal & Financial Assistance

What are the benefits & costs?

The EAP provides up to 5 free counseling sessions per issue per employee as well as his/her household family members.  (If it is determined that you will need to seek ongoing assistance, Optima will work with you and your Albemarle County health benefits to refer you to an in-network provider, if applicable.)

Is the EAP confidential?

Your privacy is assured.  Discussions with an EAP counselor are confidential and protected to the full extent of the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia.

How do I access these benefits?

You may contact EAP 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year.

You can also visit the Optima web pages designated just for School and Local Government employees.  Links to these specific pages can be found under the "EAP Links" section on the right hand side of this page.

The Optima EAP staff and affiliates are skilled, professional counselors, all of whom are licensed and/or certified and have advanced educational degrees.  They will help you sort through your problems and explore solutions to those issues.  After an initial meeting to assess your needs, your counselor will work with you to develop a course of action to optimize your physical and emotional well being.
